in my life be lifted high. in our world be lifted high. in our love be lifted high.

febrero

Okay, so I heard this from a Honduran today and thought it was hilarious. We were talking about how dangerous it is here, and he said, "As long as you have tinted windows in your car and stay locked inside your house, you'll be fine." So comforting!

But really life here has kind of become the typical everyday wear and tear, ups and downs. I have to kick myself a little to look at my students and remember that teaching in a Spanish-speaking country is something I always wanted to do and never thought I could. Now it's reality and it's normal. I'm so thankful to be here, and I truly enjoy it. I've gotten more involved in the school teaching English to adults on Saturdays and helping with the Varsity volleyball team, so my schedule is busier. That's been an adjustment and a little stressful, but it's good.

Yesterday I went to the orphanage and it was good to see the kids again.  It's weird how going there and then coming back to the city has become normal too, though.  As I write this post, the song that just popped up on my Pandora radio is "Orphan's Song." Crazy. I will include it here. Anyway, another blessing in my life has been developing friendships at church with teachers from another Christian bilingual school down here called Pinares. About 6 of us have a Sunday School class together, and we are starting the book of Romans now. I really enjoy it; it's led by a woman who has been a missionary down here for years. She and her husband are very involved in the church.

So I guess that's it. As usual, February flew by without ever starting. Except now also without ever snowing. I think I'm okay with that.
