restart

Oh man. Time just keeps flying. I am reminded of this episode from Boy Meets World (loved that show growing up) where Cory doesn't want his girlfriend Topanga (weirdest TV name in existence) to move away so he says, "I call stop time. Nothing bad can happen now. This is stop time." Maybe that's a little cheesy but I always thought of it as deep. And at various times in my life when the ball won't stop rolling and the wind keeps picking up, I think of stop time...and I wish I could call it.

I thought it would be easier to come back to Honduras, but it was so hard to leave home. Inside of me felt like at the airport when they keep pushing you through the lines and you can barely think before grabbing your stuff and just going. Once I got here, it was better, but it was still pretty hard to wake up those first few days. Now that I've seen my kids, I know my purpose here. It's my first time returning to a foreign country and it was crazy how I recognized the scenery and the scents; but it was like they were from a distant dream.  As I sit on my balcony I can hear random bits of Spanish from the neighbors, crickets (or something like crickets) in the distance, and see the shadow of the mountains against the city at night. And it's beautiful. I hope I can settle into that beauty and take on each day with peace and confidence. I know the hard parts will make me stronger. I know the good parts will make my life richer. I know I can pick up with you all where we left off when I come back. But I'm already missing you, and I've never slept so soundly as those 3 weeks when I was home.
